Yo future docs! 🩺📚 The National Testing Agency (NTA) successfully conducted the NEET UG 2026 re-examination on Saturday, with nearly 22.8 lakh students appearing for one of India’s biggest entrance tests. The re-exam comes after months of controversy and concerns regarding alleged irregularities in the previous examination, making this attempt crucial for lakhs of aspiring medical students across the country.
The examination was held in a single shift from 2:00 PM to 5:15 PM at thousands of centres spread across India and several international locations. Candidates were instructed to report well before the scheduled time and comply with strict guidelines regarding dress code, prohibited items, and biometric verification.
In an effort to ensure complete transparency and prevent any malpractice, authorities implemented unprecedented security measures. More than 1.4 lakh CCTV cameras and around 51,000 signal jammers were installed at examination centres to monitor activities and block unauthorized communication. Local police departments, district administrations, and cyber crime units also worked together to maintain strict vigilance before and during the examination.
Several states conducted mock drills in the days leading up to the exam to test preparedness and coordination among different agencies. Officials emphasized that safeguarding the integrity of the examination process was their highest priority.
Students and parents expressed optimism that the re-examination would provide a fair opportunity to all candidates competing for admission to medical colleges across the country. Many aspirants arrived at their centres hours in advance to avoid last-minute issues and ensure smooth entry procedures.
Meanwhile, authorities have warned students against believing rumours or fake answer keys circulating on social media platforms. Candidates have been advised to rely only on official announcements issued by the National Testing Agency.
Following the completion of the examination, the provisional answer key is expected to be released in the coming weeks. After objections are reviewed, the final answer key and results will be declared, paving the way for the counselling process and admissions to medical colleges.
